Beginning from an observation of Kluang’s modernist structures, architectural research practice E9A assemble a timely reflection on an ageing fabric on the cusp of redevelopment. Interviews, clippings, and images both real and imagined are collaged to tell a story of Kluang’s fabric loosely and gently. Through the slippages and evocations of human narration, Between Rail and River invites us to reconsider modern ideals of growth and progress, and listen more closely to the histories, realities, and potentials of life beyond metropolitan centers.
